In a paper called “The coiled-coil of the human Rad50 DNA repair protein contains specific segments of increased flexibility” by the Department of Nanoscience and Delft Institute of Microelectronics and Submicrontechnology, had this image in it and it sparkes my imagination on a tiny scale.
Quote out of the paper for this image: Two sections of clearly increased flexibility could be distinguished at 27 and 40 nm. These two sections of increased flexibility appeared in all curvature distributions, independent of the chosen bin size. Whereas the flexibility of the polymer segments changed along the Rad50 coiled-coil, the intrinsic curvature along the coiled-coil, deduced from the minimum position of the elastic energy, only moderately varied
