In Oktober 2012 was Malala Yousafzai bruut neergeschoten omdat ze opkwam voor het recht op onderwijs voor vrouwen. Na een lange en pijnlijke herstelperiode stond ze op haar 16e verjaardag voor de UN. Waar ze op bijzondere wijze het recht op onderwijs verdedigde.
