Historic Haarlem

I was overwhelmed by the history of Haarlem when I walked back to the trainstation after visiting Luc. Especially the light of the evening sun made me fantasise about paradise.

Seeing a homeless person made me yet again aware of this fragile balance and how easy it is to fail at dancing the dance called society your whole life without missing a beat.

Gedächtniskirche

When I took my early morning walk on the second day in Berlin (video in the making) the streets were empty except quite a few homeless people.

Living in Amsterdam myself I meet the same ones (small city) over and over again and we share the public space in harmony (mostly). For me these persons are part of my daily life, I will never get used to it. Keeping up with society isn’t that easy.

Location: Die Gedächtniskirche, Kurfürstendamm, Berlin.

Recordings

Recordings is a new program from the VPRO Dutch public television. Every episode there are about 6 folk-songs to listen to preformed by people from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds living in Holland.

By singing their personal song (often with tears in their hart) I’m invited to connect though music, the universal language. This program tells the stories I tend to forget, but refers even more to the things we share. Society needs this, more then ever.
